This piece illustrates how reliant society is on the media for its information, whether correct or incorrect. Media utilizes fear narratives to influence every aspect of society, politics, industry, health, lifestyles, sport. The list is endless. A large portion of society consume these narratives as truths without question and then consume the products advertised in between fears. It is a vicious cycle.
The assorted mediums utilized in this piece are from recycled materials that symbolize the 2020 – 2021 pandemic. Measuring tapes for social distancing, crocheted flutes on COVID as people gained new skills during lock down, chains to show how society is a slave to the media and industry.
